Who
We Are
The WOMEN'S ORGANIC FLOWER ENTERPRISE
(WOFE), one
of two programs of the Homeless Garden Project, provides job training
and meaningful work to homeless and low-income women.
WOFE's
organic garden and workshop provide a nurturing space where women
feel safe, where healing can take place, and where women learn to
help themselves.
The
women of WOFE learn to sow and cultivate a wide variety of flowers,
grasses and herbs. The
flowers are harvested, dried and fashioned into exquisitely beautiful
arrangements. The women
also produce hand dipped beeswax candles.
Each
dried flower wreath, birch heart and sampler is unique ? the artistic
expression of an individual woman?s feeling about the garden she
has tended, the flowers she has helped grow, the colors and textures
she is weaving together. Retail
sales experience is part of the training and all sales income contributes
to the program.
